Telford are seeking to hire a Vessel Superintendent to join us working in our JLT office. Further details are:
Vessel Superintendent
Purpose of Role:
- Responsible for vessel’s technical and operational related issues, including direct contact with Classification society surveyors, OEM, vendors, and contractors. Ensuring all procedures are adhered to and comply with international safety management (ISM), classification society rules, and Maritime insurance.
Operational Roles and Responsibilities:
- Managing allocation of physical and human resources to ensure all vessel engineering projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Advise on the technical operations of all vessels owned or operated by Telford Offshore.
- Liaise closely with the vessels’ masters and chief engineers to ensure the vessels hulls, machinery and equipment are operated efficiently and maintained in good condition.
- Assist in planning dry-docking, major repair and maintenance programs and other significant material or services contracts.
- Provide specialist advice and recommendations on all important technical issues affecting the vessels.
- Liaise directly with OEM and vendors for advanced technical expertise.
- In direct contact with company vessel superintendents for sharing of experience on technical and operational matters.
- Assist Purchasing department with technical expertise and advice where needed.
- Assist and provide feedback to Crewing department about vessel crew and vessel’s schedule.
- Work with Finance and cost control depts in respect to checking and approval of invoices, monitoring and advising of potential large expenditure, provide explanation of special vessel related orders and update the department on any cancelled orders.
- Work closely with the Star IPS Coordinator to ensure the planned maintenance systems is kept up to date.
- Ensure the vessel’s class and statutory certification and compliance is up to date.
- Advise company on new technology and main system upgrade solutions.
- Monitoring of assigned vessel by undertaking regular vessels’ visits.
- Other duties as directed by Telford Offshore line management from time to time.
Qualifications/Experience/Skills required:
- Degree or diploma in a relevant engineering discipline.
- A marine engineer with a least 10 years’ experience in design engineering and commissioning of
- /structural/mechanical/electrical projects implementation for vessels. Or
- A qualified Master/Ch. Officer/Ch. Engineer with several years of experience in offshore vessels management.
- experienced with DP Systems and DP vessels operation methods.
- Familiar with company modes of operation, preferably has past working experience in the company.
